(4) Definitions For the purposes of this subsection: (A) The term “approved renewable fuels” are fuels and components of fuels that have been approved by the Department of Energy, as defined in section 13211 of this title , which have been made from renewable biomass. (B) The term “renewable biomass” is, as defined in Presidential Executive Order 13134 , published in the Federal Register on August 16, 1999 , any organic matter that is available on a renewable or recurring basis (excluding old-growth timber), including dedicated energy crops and trees, agricultural food and feed crop residues, aquatic plants, animal wastes, wood and wood residues, paper and paper residues, and other vegetative waste materials. Old-growth timber means timber of a forest from the late successional stage of forest development.
