1.4:101      Model Rule Comparison

The second sentence of Rule 1.4(a) is not found in the Model Rule. Otherwise, MRPC MRPC 1.4 follows the Model Rule. The added sentence reinforces the lawyerÕs duty to convey settlement offers and the like, mediation evaluations, and proposed plea bargains to the client. The reference to Òmediation evaluationsÓ means the procedures specified in Michigan Court Rule 2.403, whereby civil cases are typically evaluated at the close of discovery by a panel of independent mediators.
