Amendments
1993—Pub. L. 103–82substituted “This part shall be administered by one of the Assistant Directors appointed pursuant to section
12651e
(d)(1)(A) of this title. Such Director” for “The Director”.
1989—Pub. L. 101–204struck out subsec. (a) designation before “The Director may”, struck out subsec. (b) which related to replacement of applicants who become unavailable for service, and struck out subsec. (c) which related to age quotas.
1984—Subsec. (a). Pub. L. 98–288designated existing provisions as subsec. (a) and added subsecs. (b) and (c).
Effective Date of 1993 Amendment
Section 322(b) ofPub. L. 103–82provided that: “The amendments made by subsection (a) [amending this section] shall take effect on the effective date of section
203
(b).” [Section 203(b) ofPub. L. 103–82is effective 18 months after Sept. 21, 1993, or on such earlier date as the President shall determine to be appropriate and announce by proclamation in the Federal Register, see section 203(d) ofPub. L. 103–82, set out as a note under section
12651 of this title.]
