acknowledged father

When a child is born to an unmarried couple paternity may be established by acknowledgment. The biological father can admit his paternity or sign an acknowledgement of paternity.  The father will gain full parental rights to the child and will become liable for child support.

The biological father of a child born to an unmarried couple who has been established as the father either by his admission, by his signing a voluntary written acknowledgment of paternity, or by an agreement between him and the child's mother. An acknowledged father has parental rights and obligations, including the obligation to support the child.
