limitation of actions

Limitation of actions refers to the restriction on the time period within which a legal action, or claim, must be initiated. This limitation is most commonly established through statutes of limitations or statutes of repose. In some cases, time limits may also arise under the equitable doctrine of laches, which bars claims where there has been an unreasonable delay in asserting a right and that delay has prejudiced the opposing party.
