In criminal law, a panderer, sometimes simply called a pander or procurer, is someone who acts as a go-between for prostitutes and their clients and, as an agent of the sex act, collects part of the prostitute’s earnings. Colloquially, a male panderer is called a pimp, and a female one, a madam.

Pandering, the criminal act that the panderer engages in, can encompasses a number of illicit acts, such as luring a person into prostitution for the procurer’s profit, running a brothel, or collecting money from the prostitute in exchange for facilitating her meet-up with clients and offering personal protection.
