Seizure

Seizure occurs when the government or its agent removes property from an individual's possession as a result of unlawful activity or to satisfy a judgment entered by the court.

The taking of physical evidence or property by law enforcement officials. Seized evidence can include taking blood for a drug test to impounding a car used in a robbery. In most cases, the police must obtain a search warrant before they can seize personal property.
