subscribing witness
A subscribing witness is a person who observes the signing of a document and then signs it to confirm the signature was made in their presence. This helps to verify the document's authenticity if it is later challenged. For example, when someone signs a will, a subscribing witness may also sign to confirm they saw the person sign it voluntarily and with full understanding.
