Examining official

Examining official means an employee of the United States Mint appointed by the Director of the United States Mint (or an employee of the Treasury Department appointed by the Director of the United States Mint with the concurrence of the head of that employee's organization), to administer the procedures in this subpart in a particular case and to propose findings and recommendations in that case to the assessing official. The examining official must be:
(1) An employee of the Treasury Department in the grade of GS–15 or higher; and
(2) Capable of examining the matter without actual or apparent conflict of interest.
