Decomposition

Decomposition means, for the purposes of these standards, an event in a polymerization reactor that advances to the point where the polymerization reaction becomes uncontrollable, the polymer begins to break down , and it becomes necessary to relieve the reactor instantaneously in order to avoid catastrophic equipment damage or serious adverse personnel safety consequences.

Scoping language

As used in this subpart, all terms not defined herein shall have the meaning given them in the Act, in subpart A of part 60, or in subpart VV of part 60, and the following terms shall have the specific meanings given them.
