Notice of intent
Notice of intent (NOI) (40 CFR 1508.22). A notice of intent is a brief statement inviting public reaction to the decision by the responsible Federal official to prepare an EIS for a major Federal action. The notice of intent is to be published in theFederal Register,circulated to interested agencies, groups, individuals, and published in one or more newspapers serving the area of the proposed action.
