abandons
(1) Abandons; abandoned .— Each of the terms “abandons” and “abandoned” means— (A) a vessel owner’s or operator’s unilateral severance of ties with a seafarer; or (B) a vessel owner’s or operator’s failure to provide necessary support of a seafarer.
