The Domestic Violence (Summary Proceedings) Act of 1999 creates various remedies addressing domestic violence, including; protection orders, removing the abuser from the home or workplace, occupation orders granting a right to remain in the household residence, tenancy orders vesting the tenancy in the person who applied for the order, and other orders regarding use of furniture and household effects, the payment of rent, mortgage payments, utilities, counseling, and other means of victim support. 

The Domestic Violence Act 2015 is intended to provide increased protection for victims of domestic violence and provides for the granting of protection orders in Antigua and Barbuda. The Act imposes a duty on police officers to inform victims of the rights specified in the Act, authorizes courts the power to grant interim protection orders, and sets out prohibitions and conditions that may be imposed under protective orders.

The public ministry is appealing a previous ruling, which found the defendant not guilty of violating an order or protection that prohibited the defendant from, among other things, nearing or entering the home, place of work or place of study of the complainant. Police found the defendant approximately one or two meters from the complainant’s home, armed with a knife. He had broken down the front door and forcibly entered the home.

The Louisiana Protection from Stalking Act creates a civil protection order system with shortened summary proceedings to address stalking and cyberstalking in the state. It additionally creates a system for trained individuals to provide advocacy, support, resources, and counseling to persons experiencing or who have experienced stalking. 

Louisiana’s Protection for Victims of Sexual Assault Act sets forth a streamlined civil process designed to assist survivors of sexual assault in obtaining immediate legal protection, regardless of whether the perpetrator is a stranger or an acquaintance. In recognizing that sexual assault is both a significant public health issue and a serious violation of personal safety, this Act allows eligible victims to seek temporary restraining orders through an expedited process based on evidence of sexual assault.

Section 382b and Section 382e Execution Order (Exekutionsordnung) entered into force on July 1, 2021. According to this provision, the person at risk can apply to the court for a temporary injunction to enforce a prohibition on entering the home for more than two weeks.
