The Campus Sexual Assault, Dating Violence, Domestic Violence, and Stalking Prevention and Response Act modernizes New York State's sexual-assault response programs by requiring all New York State colleges and universities to adopt uniform policies for preventing and responding to sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking. It mandates a comprehensive system of definitions, rights, procedures, and reporting obligations that apply to every institution chartered by the Regents or created by legislative act.

In Case of M.G.C. v. Romania, an 11-year-old was sexually assaulted multiple times by a fifty-two-year-old man and five teenagers, resulting in her pregnancy. With the approval of her parents, she was able to terminate the pregnancy.

The Crime Victims’ Rights Act (“CVRA”), codified at 18 U.S.C. § 3771, was enacted in 2004 to protect victims of federal crimes and offenses.

While working at Laidlaw, the plaintiff-employee and her five children experienced ongoing domestic violence at the hands of her husband. She requested time off to remove herself and her children from the abusive situation. The time off was initially denied, then she was subsequently provided paid time off for 15 days. During this time off, she received police, legal, and advocacy assistance. Shortly after returning to work, the employer demoted her, and then terminated her employment, stating that this was due to falsification of payroll records.

Thomas Dittrich was accused of having a three-month relationship with his daughter’s thirteen-year-old classmate, the complainant-victim. The relationship began when the complainant went to Dittrich’s house to visit his daughter, and quickly progressed into an intimate relationship.

The plaintiff, Jane Doe (“Doe”), filed a lawsuit under a pseudonym and alleged 23 causes of action including human trafficking, sexual battery, forced labor and involuntary servitude against the defendants, Mr. and Mrs. Penzato. Mrs. Penzato had offered Doe $1,500 per month, free room and board, and transportation to the United States in exchange for child care and housekeeping services.

The Domestic Violence Act 2015 is intended to provide increased protection for victims of domestic violence and provides for the granting of protection orders in Antigua and Barbuda. The Act imposes a duty on police officers to inform victims of the rights specified in the Act, authorizes courts the power to grant interim protection orders, and sets out prohibitions and conditions that may be imposed under protective orders.

The Domestic Violence Act (“The Act”), enacted in 2013, defines and addresses domestic and intimate partner violence in The Gambia. The Act defines domestic violence broadly to cover physical, sexual, emotional, verbal, psychological and economic abuse occurring within domestic relationships, including between spouses, co-habitants, and family members. The Act also provides remedies for survivors that include protection orders, occupancy orders, tenancy orders, and imposes duties on the police to respond promptly to any reported acts of domestic violence.
