Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) (N.Y. 2010) as amended

The Dignity for All Students Act requires New York State public elementary and secondary schools to provide an educational environment free from harassment, bullying, and discrimination. The law protects students on the basis of race, color, weight, national origin, ethnicity, religion, religious practice, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, and sex. Schools are directed to revise their codes of conduct, provide staff training on preventing and responding to discriminatory or harassing behavior, appoint a DASA coordinator in each school, and document and report material incidents. These measures embed anti-bias standards directly into education law and establish clear responsibilities for districts and school personnel.
