Grenada Police Standing Orders (Amendment) 2017
The Statutory Rules and Orders No. 19 were implemented to supplement the legal regime set out in the Domestic Violence Act and provide “a systematic approach in the administration of justice as it relates to domestic violence." The Statutory Rules and Order No. 19 set out a framework for the role of the Royal Grenada Police Force (“RGPF”) and other law enforcement agencies in responding to and addressing domestic violence. Rule one requires that the RGPF must respond to every complaint of domestic violence, and they must treat all reports of domestic violence seriously and confidentially, and the RGPF must respond to calls for intervention in an expeditious manner, “regardless of sex, race, sexual identity, religion, social status, the frequency of the reports or the conduct of the victim.” Under Rule 3(d), a police officer responding to an incident of domestic violence must “refrain from making judgmental comments/statements” and, per Rule 3(f), “refrain from counseling or attempting to reconcile the victims.”
