Inheritance Act of The Bahamas
The Inheritance Act of The Bahamas provides the framework for testate and intestate succession and family-provision claims for dependents of the deceased. The intestacy rules allocate an estate equally among the closest surviving relatives, regardless of gender. For example, if the decedent leaves two children, a boy and a girl, and no spouse, the estate shall be distributed in equal shares between the deceased’s children unless indicated otherwise.
