Louisiana Revised Statutes § 14:87.7 Abortion Trigger Ban

Louisiana Revised Statutes § 14:87.7 effectively banned abortion in the state of Louisiana when the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113 (1973) in the decision of Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, 597 U.S. 215 (2022). The section calls for a minimum sentence of one year and a maximum sentence of ten years in prison for any person who performs an abortion. The pregnant person who the abortion was performed on is not criminally liable under this statute. There is a separate statute for providing abortion-inducing drugs.
