Delhi Domestic Working Women's Forum v. Union of India

In Delhi Domestic Working Women’s Forum v. Union of India, six women were sexually assaulted and raped on a commuter train. The Supreme Court established new requirements for police in handling rape cases, including providing victims with legal representation, informing them of all their rights before questioning, and protecting their anonymity during trial. The Court also directed that criminal compensation boards consider the full circumstances when awarding compensation, including the emotional harm caused by the assault, medical expenses, and the emotional impact of any child born as a result of the rape.
