Ala. Admin. Code r. 610-X-6-.16 - Telehealth Nursing

(1)
The licensed nurse must hold an active Alabama license or multistate license
issued by a party state other than Alabama, as defined in Chapter 4 of these
rules, in order to practice telenursing in the State of Alabama. The licensed
nurse shall adhere to the existing Alabama Nurse Practice Act and Alabama
Administrative Code.
(2)
Telenursing practice can take place in varied practice settings. The individual
nurse is responsible for:
(a) Having
knowledge and understanding of the laws and rules regulating
telenursing.
(b) Functioning within
the legal scope of nursing practice for Alabama licensed nurses.
(c) Maintaining competency in the area of
practice.
1. Competency should include how to
use telehealth technologies and medical devices in the practice of nursing at a
distance.
(d) The
licensed nurse shall follow the facility specific policy of the permissible
activities of telenursing.
