7 AAC 100.014 - Interview required

(a) An applicant for Medicaid under one of the following eligibility categories must participate in at least one face-to-face interview with a caseworker or fee agent, unless waived by the department under (c) of this section:
(1) Family Medicaid under 7 AAC 100.002(a) (1);
(2) Family Medicaid-related eligibility under 7 AAC 100.002(a) (2), (3), or (10) or (c)(1), (2), or (7);
(3) under-21 Medicaid under 7 AAC 100.002(c) (2) - (4);
(4) any APA-related Medicaid eligibility category under 7 AAC 100.002(b), (d), or (e).
(b) An applicant for Medicaid under 7 AAC 100.002(a) (4) - (8) or 7 AAC 100.002(c) (8) - (9) must participate in at least one face-to-face interview if the caseworker determines that an interview is the most appropriate way to secure the verification necessary to determine eligibility.
(c) The department will waive the interview or conduct a telephone interview if the department finds that a face-to-face interview under this section is not appropriate because of illness, distance, or another valid reason acceptable to the department. The reason an interview is not conducted will be documented in the record.
(d) An applicant filing a review application under 7 AAC 100.020 must participate in at least one face-to-face interview if the caseworker determines that an interview is the most appropriate way to secure the verification necessary to determine eligibility.
(e) A fee agent is responsible for conducting an interview with an applicant who lives in the fee agent's area, unless an applicant has arranged an interview directly with the department.
