Cal. Code Regs. Tit. 11, § 4412 - POST-Certified Firearms Instructors May Serve as CCW Instructors

Any active or honorably retired peace officer, as defined in Chapter 4.5 (commencing with Section 830) of Title 3 of Part 2 of the Penal Code, who is certified as a Firearms Instructor by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) may provide the course of training described in Penal Code section 26165. Such officers are exempt from the application procedure described in section 4410. Reserve peace officers appointed pursuant to Penal Code section 830.6 do not qualify for this exemption.

A Certificate of Compliance must be transmitted to OAL by 1-1-2026 or emergency language will be repealed by operation of law on the following day.

Pursuant to Penal Code section 26225(d) this action is a deemed emergency and exempt from OAL Review (Register 2024, No. 15). A Certificate of Compliance must be submitted to OAL by 1-1-2026 or the emergency language will be repealed by operation of law on the following day.
