Cal. Code Regs. Tit. 13, § 20.02 - Driving Tests: Interior Audio and Video Recordings

The use of any audio or video recording device to record the vehicle's interior is prohibited during all drive tests, unless explicitly authorized by the department in writing.

(a) Applicants utilizing a vehicle equipped with a device that records the vehicle's interior audio or video must disable the device for the entire duration of the drive test.
(b) Applicants utilizing a vehicle equipped with a video recording device that does not have the capability to record audio and cannot be powered off or unplugged, must cover the device's camera lens with an opaque material for the entire duration of the drive test.
(c) When an applicant is unable to, or chooses not to power off, unplug, disable, or cover the recording device's camera and disable the audio recording functions, the driving test appointment will be canceled by the department and the applicant will have to reschedule.
