Cal. Code Regs. Tit. 14, § 17409.5.6 - Source Separated Organic Waste Handling
(a) Source separated organic waste processing
shall be kept separate from other solid waste streams.
(1) Remnant organic material separated from
the gray container collection stream for recovery can be combined with organic
material removed from the source separated organic waste collection stream for
recovery once the material from the source separated organic waste collection
stream has gone through the measurement protocol described in Section
17409.5.4.
(2) Construction and Demolition Debris, as
defined in Section
17381, shall be kept separate from
the source separated organic waste collection stream and the mixed waste
organic collection stream and shall not be included in the measurements
required pursuant to Sections
17409.5.1 -
17409.5.5 and
17409.5.8.
(b) Source separated organic waste and
organic waste removed from a mixed waste organic collection service for
recovery shall be:
(1) Stored away from other
activity areas in specified, clearly identifiable areas as described in the
Facility Plan or Transfer/Processing Report; and
(2) Removed from the site consistent with
Section 17410.1 and either:
(A) Transported only to another solid waste
facility or operation for additional processing, composting, in-vessel
digestion, or other recovery as specified in Section
18983.1; or
(B) Used in a manner approved by local,
state, and federal agencies having appropriate
jurisdiction.
