Cal. Code Regs. Tit. 9, § 784.33 - Liability for Rent and Return of Rental Advance
(a) Whenever accommodations in a mental
health rehabilitation center are rented by, or for, a client on a
month-to-month basis, the renter or his heir, legatee or personal
representative shall not be liable for any rent due under the rental agreement
for accommodations beyond the date on which the client died.
(b) Any advance of rent by the renter shall
be returned to the heir, legatee or personal representative of the client no
later than two weeks after discharge or death of the client.
(c) The rights described in (a) and (b) above
shall not be modified or waived in the rental agreement.
