1 CCR 301-25-38.0 - Seats/Restraining Barriers
38.1 Type A
school buses shall be equipped with restraining barriers conforming to FMVSS
222.
38.2 No bus shall be equipped
with any type of seats that are not secured to the floor by the
manufacturer.
38.3 The forward-most
pupil seat on the right side of the bus shall be located not to interfere with
the driver's vision. The seat shall not be farther forward than the barrier
behind the driver or the rear of the driver's seat when adjusted to its
rear-most position.
38.4 Use of a
flip seat at any side emergency door location and conformance with FMVSS 222,
including required aisle width to the side door, is acceptable. Any flip seat
shall be free of sharp projections on the underside of the seat bottom. The
underside of the flip- up seat bottoms shall be padded or contoured to reduce
the possibility of snagged clothing or injury during use. Flip seats shall be
constructed to prevent passenger limbs from becoming entrapped between the seat
back and the seat cushion when in the upright position. The seat cushion shall
be designed to rise to a vertical position automatically when not
occupied.
38.5 School bus student
seats and seat spacing shall meet FMVSS 222.
38.6 School bus seat materials shall meet
FMVSS 302.
38.7 Integrated child
seats shall not be installed at an emergency exit.
38.8 Each individual wheelchair securement
system shall consist of materials from one brand only.
