Conn. Agencies Regs. § 10-145d-526 - Initial educator certificate requirements
To receive an initial educator certificate for health occupations in vocational-technical schools an applicant shall present evidence of meeting the following requirements:
(a) Holds a high school diploma or
equivalent;
(b) Holds a valid
license or certificate appropriate to the particular health occupation to be
taught, issued by the appropriate Connecticut governing body;
(c) Has completed eight years of approved
experience in the particular health occupation to be taught, or holds a
bachelor's degree from an approved institution and has three years of approved
experience in the particular health occupation to be taught;
(d) Has completed a minimum of six semester
hours of credit teaching vocational and industrial education; and
(e) A course of study in special education
comprised of not fewer than 36 clock hours, which shall include study in
understanding the growth and development of exceptional children, including
handicapped and gifted and talented children and children who may require
special education and methods for identifying, planning for and working
effectively with special-needs children in the regular classroom.
