Idaho Admin. Code r. 58.01.08.545 - FACILITY AND DESIGN STANDARDS: TREATMENT PLANT STORAGE FACILITIES
The design standards of Section
544 shall apply to treatment
01.
Filter
Wash Water. Filter wash water tanks shall be sized, in conjunction with
available pump units and finished water storage, to provide the backwash water
required by Section 521.
Consideration must be given to the backwashing of several filters in rapid
succession. (3-24-22)
02.
Clearwell. When finished water storage is used to provide
disinfectant contact time special attention must be given to tank size and
baffling. An overflow and vent shall be provided. A minimum of two (2)
clearwell compartments shall be provided to allow for cleaning or maintenance.
Clearwells constructed under filters may be exempt from the requirements set
out in Subsection 544.02.d. when the design
provides adequate protection from contamination. (3-24-22)

Adjacent Storage. Finished
or treated water must not be stored or conveyed in a compartment adjacent to
untreated or partially treated water when the two (2) compartments are
separated by a single wall, unless approved by the reviewing authority .

Other Treatment
Plant Storage Tanks. Unless otherwise allowed by the reviewing
authority, other treatment plant storage tanks/basins such as detention basins,
backwash reclaim tanks, receiving basins, and pump wet-wells for finished water
shall be designed as finished water storage structures. In addition, these
tanks/ basins shall be designed to allow for cleaning or maintenance through
temporary tanks, standby pumping capabilities, or other means approved by the
Department . (3-24-22)
