Ill. Admin. Code tit. 77, § 518.2200 - Structural Requirements
a) In
addition to compliance with this Part, all applicable local or State building
codes and regulations shall be observed.
b) The buildings and all parts thereof shall
be of sufficient strength to support all dead, live, and lateral loads without
exceeding the working stresses permitted for the materials of their
construction in generally accepted good engineering practice.
c) Special provision shall be made for
machines or apparatus loads that would cause a greater load than the specified
minimum live load.
d) Consideration
shall be given to structural members and connections of structures that may be
subject to earthquakes or tornadoes. Floor areas where partition locations are
subject to change shall be designed to support for the partition, a uniformly
distributed load of 25 p.s.f.

Construction shall be in accordance with NFPA 101 and the minimum requirements
contained in this Part.
1) Foundations shall
rest on natural solid ground and shall be carried to a depth of not less than
one foot below the estimated frost line or shall rest on leveled rock or
load-bearing piles or caissons when solid ground is not encountered. Footings,
piers and foundation walls shall be adequately protected against deterioration
from the action of ground water. Test borings shall be taken to establish
proper soil-bearing values for the soil at the building site.
2) Assumed live load shall be in accordance
with the International Building Code.
f) Chapter 18, New Health Care Occupancies,
of NFPA 101 shall apply in its entirety.
