Ill. Admin. Code tit. 83, § 730.335 - Network Interface
a)
Telecommunications carriers shall have in place, no later than December 31, 2003,
external combination protector/demarcation interfaces for all one- and two-line
customers in single tenant residences and commercial buildings.
b) The network interface for a residential
customer shall be located on a structure owned, rented, or leased by the customer ,
in which the customer resides.
c) The
network interface for business customers shall be located outside structures owned,
rented, or leased by the customer , in which the customer is conducting business. The
demarcation point shall be located at the minimum point of penetration of the
network cable to the building, normally within 25 feet. Deviation from this location
must be mutually agreeable to the building owner and the telecommunications
provider.
d) Network interfaces shall
not be located on fence posts, utility poles, or cable pedestals.
e) Network interfaces for temporary services or
serving trailers, boats, or customer -owned pay telephones shall be located on
structures provided by the customer or on a utility pole.
