Ill. Admin. Code tit. 89, § 336.180 - Interpreters and Translation of Documents
a) A party whose language of preference is
not English, or who will require communication assistance, shall declare his or
her language of preference to the ALJ or the Department's legal representative
at the pre-hearing conference or at the earliest opportunity. The Department
shall provide an interpreter at no cost to the party.
b) At the time of the pre-hearing conference,
if the ALJ determines that translation of documents is necessary to the
conducting of a full and fair hearing, an order shall be entered directing the
Department to translate the relevant documents. All due diligence shall be
applied to the Department's translation of relevant documents. A request for
translation of documents shall not be considered a delay on the part of the
Department or the appellant.
