312 IAC 5-4-6 - Buoys used as navigation aids; geometric shapes and designations

(a)
Geometric shapes must be placed on the white portion of the body of a buoy. The
geometric shapes must be colored international orange. The authorized geometric
shapes and meanings associated with them are as follows:
(1) A vertical, open-faced diamond shape
means danger. This shape is illustrated as follows:

vertical, open-faced diamond shape with a cross centeredin the diamond
designates a zone whichis excluded fromusageby a boat or from some other
designated purpose. This shape is illustrated as follows:

Acircular shape designates a zone where a boat may be operated only if the
operation complies with certain restrictions.This shape is illustrated as
follows:

(4) A
square or rectangular shape means information or directions are provided. This
shape is illustrated as follows:
(b) If a diamond orcirculargeometric shape
associatedwith the meaningof the marker is included, the
meaningmustbecenteredon the sign. If a regulatorymarker consistsof a square
orrectangular shaped sign displayed froma structure, the sign shallbe white
with an international orange border.
