Iowa Admin. Code r. 205-8.1 - Purpose of parole and work release considerations
The board shall determine whether there is reasonable probability that an inmate committed to the custody of the department of corrections who is eligible for parole or work release can be released without detriment to the community or the inmate. The board considers the best interests of society, and parole or work release is not granted as an award of clemency.
