Kan. Admin. Regs. § 69-12-16 - Lamps
(a) Each
tanning facility shall use only tanning devices manufactured in accordance with
the specifications set forth in 21 CFR Part 1040, Section 1040.20, as in effect
on September 6, 1985, "Sunlamp products and ultraviolet lamps intended for use
in sunlamp products."
(b) Each
sunlamp product or ultraviolet lamp used in these facilities shall not emit any
measurable Ultraviolet C radiation.
(c) Each ultraviolet lamp contained within
the sunlamp product shall be shielded to avoid contact with the consumer .
(d) Services and repair shall be
carried out by a competent person in accordance with the information supplied
with the device.
(e) Defective or
burned out tanning lamps or bulbs shall be replaced with a type intended for
use in that device and shall be of the same ultraviolet range, A or B, as the
manufacturer specifies, and shall be the original lamp type as specified by the
manufacturer, or an equivalent lamp approved by the FDA .
