16-219 C.M.R. ch. 27, § 03 - Flame Resistance
A. All tents
occupied for assembly, or in which animals are stabled, or those located within
that portion of the premises used by the public; and all tents in places of
outdoor assembly in or about which any devices using fuels are operated, and
all tarpaulins and decorative materials in connection with any of these, shall
meet the requirements for resistance to fire prescribed in the Federal
Specification for Fire, Water and Weather Resistant Cotton Duck,
CCC-D-746.
B. With the application
for any circus, carnival or traveling amusement show license, the Commissioner
of Public Safety shall require a affidavit attesting to the date the tent
fabric was last treated with flame retardant solution and the date the wood was
last surface treated or impregnated, the trade name and kind of chemical used
in such treatments, the name of person or firm treating the test fabric and
wood and the name and address of the owner of same. An additional copy of this
affidavit shall be kept in the office of the circus, carnival, or traveling
amusement show and shall be produced for inspection upon request of
inspectional authorities.
C. Where
tents are used as places of assembly with a capacity of two hundred (200) or
more persons, the seats, chairs, jacks and other appurtenances of wood, must be
suitably treated to reduce the fire hazard by a suitable application of a
surface treatment or by impregnation.
