105 CMR, § 430.157 - Communicable Disease Reporting and Parental Education Requirements
(A) The operator of a recreational camp for
children, in consultation with the camp's health care consultant, shall
immediately report each case of communicable disease listed as reportable under
105 CMR 300.000: Reportable Diseases, Surveillance and Isolation and
Quarantine Requirements occurring in a camp to the Board of Health and
the Department. Such report shall include the name and home address of any
individual in the camp known to have or suspected of having such disease. Until
action on such case has been taken by the camp health care consultant, strict
isolation of affected individuals shall be maintained.
(B) The operator of a recreational camp for
children, in consultation with the camp's health care consultant, shall be
responsible for ensuring each suspected case of food poisoning or any unusual
prevalence of any illness in which fever, rash, diarrhea, sore throat,
vomiting, or jaundice is a prominent symptom is reported immediately to the
Board of Health and to the Department, by email or telephone. This report shall
be made by the health care consultant, health care supervisor, or the camp
director or operator.
(C)
Information regarding meningococcal disease and immunization shall be provided
annually to the parent or legal guardian of each camper in accordance with
M.G.L. c. 111, § 219.
(D)
Prior to admitting a child to the camp, the camp operator shall provide to
parents and guardians a copy of the policy pertaining to the care of mildly ill
campers, administration of medication and the procedures for providing
emergency health care. A complete copy of the health care policy shall be
furnished to parents and guardians upon their request.
(E) The operator shall inform parents in
writing at the time application forms are provided that they may request copies
of background check, health care, and discipline policies as well as procedures
for filing grievances.
