105 CMR, § 430.206 - Playground, Athletic Equipment and Facilities Requirements
(A) Athletic equipment used for, gymnastics,
volleyball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer and other sports shall be set
up and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's guidelines.
(B) All playing fields and surfaces shall be
kept free of holes and other obstructions which may create an accident
hazard.
(C) Playground equipment
including, but not limited to, climbing apparatus, slides, and swing sets
shall:
(1) be in good repair and of safe
design in accordance with the Consumer Product Safety Commission Public
Playground Safety Handbook. Safe design includes being free of rough
edges, protruding bolts and possibility of entrapment of extremities;
(2) be securely anchored to a concrete or
other suitable footing;
(3) not
have an asphalt or concrete surface under or around it; and
(4) have canvas or other pliable seats on
swings.
