81 Neb. Admin. Code, ch. 7, § 003 - Exercise and Recreation
Detention facilities shall provide a recreational program which includes both active physical exercise and passive recreational activities.
003.01 Inmates shall have
opportunities for active physical exercise at least one (1) hour per day, five
days per week outside their cells. When weather permits, exercise should be
provided outdoors in a secure area.
003.02 Space in the facility shall be
designated for inmate exercise. It shall be in a secure area that is sufficient
in size to allow the maximum number of users at any one time to participate in
exercise activities and which is appropriate for the types of exercise
activities offered.
003.02A Rooms designated
for indoor exercise shall be adequate in size to serve the maximum number of
users at one time.
003.02B Dayrooms
may be acceptable, provided sufficient space is available and equipment is
provided.
003.02C Outdoor exercise
areas shall comply with the requirements of Chapter
15-008.09.
003.03
Equipment in sufficient amounts shall be provided to ensure that all inmates
have the opportunity to participate in exercise activities during their
designated exercise period.
003.04
The facility shall have an established exercise schedule with sufficient hours
set aside weekly to meet the requirements of Chapter 7-003.01 above for all
inmates in the facility.
003.05
Provisions shall be made for passive recreational activities.
