N.H. Admin. Code § Lab 1403.69 - Wire Ropes, Chains, and Rigging Equipment
The employer shall ensure compliance with the following requirements:
(a) Wire ropes, chains,
ropes, and other rigging equipment shall be inspected prior to use and as
necessary during use to assure their safety. Defective gear shall be removed
from service;
(b) Job or shop hooks
and links, or makeshift fasteners, formed from bolts and rods, or other such
attachments, shall not be used;
(c)
When U-bolts are used for eye splices, the U-bolt shall be applied so that the
"U" section is in contact with the dead end of the rope; and
(d) When U-bolt wire rope clips are used to
form eyes, Table 1400.3, number and spacing of U-Bolt Wire Rope Clips, shall be
used to determine the number and spacing of clips:
