N.J. Admin. Code § 13:20-33.6 - Commercial vehicles inspection: front parking lights
(a)
Front parking lights shall be of a type approved as meeting the standards of
the United States Department of Transportation or, for motor vehicles
manufactured prior to the adoption of such standards, the standards of the
Society of Automotive Engineers. The letters "SAE" and the letter "P," along
with the manufacturer's name or trademark, are often on the lens of such
lights.
(b) Front parking lights
shall be white, yellow, or amber in color, and shall be securely mounted on the
motor vehicle so as to reduce the likelihood of their being obscured by mud or
dust thrown up by the wheels. There shall be one front parking light mounted on
each side of the vertical centerline of the motor vehicle at the same height
and as far apart as practicable.
(c) Certification of a commercial motor
vehicle shall be refused because of the following reasons:
1. One or both of the front parking lights
are inoperative; or
2. A front
parking light lens is damaged or missing.
