N.J. Admin. Code § 16:53-1.14 - Tires and wheels

(a) A van-type autobus shall be equipped with tires and wheels of sufficient size and construction as recommended by the manufacturer to meet the GVWR of the van-type autobus.

(b) A van-type autobus shall not be operated on any tire having exposed fabric on the tread or sidewall.

(c) The front and rear tires of a van-type autobus shall have a minimum tread groove of 2/32 of an inch. Measurements shall be made at any point on a major tread groove except where tie bars, humps, or fillets are located.

(d) A van-type autobus shall not be operated with regrooved, recapped, or retread tires on any wheel.

(e) A van-type autobus shall be equipped with tires that are matched in size designation, construction, and profile. Radial tires shall not be mixed with other types of tires on the same axle.
