N.J. Admin. Code § 16:53-8.11 - Tires and wheels
(a) A
sedan-type autobus shall be equipped with tires and wheels of proper size and
construction as recommended by the manufacturer to meet the gross vehicle
weight rating of the sedan-type autobus, in accordance with Federal Motor
Vehicle Safety Standard No. 109 and 110 (49 CFR
§
571.109 and §
571.110),
incorporated herein by reference, as amended and supplemented.
(b) A sedan-type autobus shall not be
operated on any tire having exposed fabric on the tread or sidewall.
(c) A sedan-type autobus shall not be
operated with recapped, regrooved, or retread tires on any wheel.
(d) The front and rear tires of a sedan-type
autobus shall have a minimum tread groove of 2/32 of an inch. Measurements
shall be made at any point on a major tread groove except where tie bars,
humps, or fillets are located.
(e)
A sedan-type autobus shall be equipped with tires that are matched in size
designation, construction, and profile. Radial tires shall not be mixed with
other types of tires on the same axle.
