N.J. Admin. Code § 7:2-12.5 - Hiker camping
(a)
Hiker camping shall mean the erection of a tent or shelter of natural or
synthetic material and/or preparing a sleeping bag or other bedding material
for the purpose of overnight stay.
(b) Hiker camping is permitted only as part
of the hiking experience on a hiking trail under the jurisdiction or control of
the State Park Service.
(c) Hiker
camping is permitted in hiker camping areas or other established campsite areas
designated and approved by the State Park Service for overnight
camping.
(d) On the Appalachian
Trail hiker camping is limited to one overnight stay at each designated hiker
camping area.
(e) Maximum occupancy
for each hiker campsite may be limited or expanded by the Superintendent or
designee as conditions warrant.
