N.Y. Comp. Codes R. & Regs. Tit. 12 §§ 14-2.8 - Application for certification
Any person having the following qualifications may file with the commissioner on a form furnished by him, an application for certification of his competence as a boiler inspector and for the issuance to him of a certificate of competence:
(a) He shall be at least 21 years
old.
(b) He shall have had at least
five years consecutive or discontinuous practical experience in any or any
combination of the following occupations:
(1)
boilermaking;
(2) boiler
installation and inspection;
(3)
boiler shop practice;
(4) operation
or maintenance of boilers;
(5)
inspection of boilers;
(6) or as a
complete or partial alternative to such experience, he shall have had technical
education or special training which the commissioner may reasonably find
equivalent in instructive value.
(c) He shall be actually in the employ of the
State of New York, a duly authorized insurance company or a qualified city,
except that this qualification may be waived by the commissioner upon his
finding in his discretion that such waiver is necessary or convenient for the
enforcement or administration of section
204 of the Labor Law
or of the Industrial Code.
