validating stickers with all original boat registrations issued on and after
June 1, 1986, and with all renewals of boat registrations which expire on and
after June 30, 1986.
(b) Prior to
September 1, 1986, the commissioner shall mail without fee a set of two
validating stickers to each boat registrant for each boat validly registered in
such person's name for which the registrant has not previously been issued a
set of validating stickers pursuant to subdivision (a) of this section. These
shall be mailed to the address contained on the boat registration file of the
department.
(c) On or after
September 1, 1986, any such registrant who has not received a set of validating
stickers pursuant to subdivision (a) or (b) of this section may apply for a set
at any district office of the department or at any county clerk's office which
issues boat registrations.
(d) Any
boat operated on the navigable waters of this State will not be considered as
validly registered unless a set of unexpired validating stickers is properly
displayed on the boat. The provisions of this subdivision shall not apply to a
boat bearing a valid temporary registration or to a boat not required to be
registered under article 48 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law.
(e) On a nondocumented vessel, one validating

shall be affixed approximately three inches to the stern of the registration
number.
(f) On a documented vessel,
one validating sticker must be affixed to each side of the forward half of the

the outer side of the forward half of each hull. Each validating sticker must
be clearly visible from a distance of 100 feet.
(g) Validating stickers shall expire on the
last day of the month and year indicated upon such stickers.
