Ohio Admin. Code 4723-14-04 - Determining the continuing education credit
(A) The official unit of measure for
continuing education credit for licensees and certificate holders is the
contact hour, which is sixty minutes, as
defined in paragraph (I) of rule
4723-14-01 of the Administrative
Code.
(B) The calculation of
contact hours based on credit hours earned in an academic institution is as
follows:
(1) For credit hours earned on an
academic quarter system, one credit hour is equivalent to ten contact
hours;
(2) For credit hours earned
on an academic trimester system, one credit hour is equivalent to twelve
contact hours;
(3) For credit hours
earned on an academic semester system, one credit hour is equivalent to fifteen
contact hours; and
(4) For credit
hours that have not been identified as quarters, semesters, or trimesters, one
credit hour is equivalent to ten contact hours.
(C) The amount of continuing education credit
designated on a certificate issued according to rule
4723-14-06 of the Administrative
Code by the provider or approval body will be the amount accepted by the
board.
(D) The OBN approver shall
determine the minimum number of contact hours to be awarded.
(E) A licensee or certificate holder who is
engaged in active military duty may be eligible for an extension of time to
complete continuing education as provided in rule
4723-2-04 of the Administrative
Code.
