Or. Admin. R. 584-230-0045 - Five-Year CTE Teaching License
(1)
Purpose of the License: The
Five-Year Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teaching License is a
district-sponsored license, issued prior to January 1, 2011, to applicants who
completed the requirements for the Three-Year CTE Teaching License, had one
year of CTE teaching experience and met advanced methodology, work experience
and educational requirements.
(2)
District Sponsorship: The Five-Year CTE Teaching License requires
district sponsorship. The sponsoring district must submit a statement:
(a) Assuring that the assignment is
consistent with the CTE endorsements on the license; and
(b) Assuring that the applicant is employed
within the CTE program established by the employing school or
district.
(3)
Transfer of District Sponsorship: To transfer sponsorship of the
Five-year CTE Teaching License to another district, the new sponsoring district
must:
(a) Submit a statement as provided in
subsection (2) and that the original sponsoring district has been informed of
the transfer; and
(b) Require the
applicant to submit a complete and correct application in the form and manner
required by the Commission, including payment of all required fees as provided
in OAR 584-200-0050.

Term of License: The Five-Year CTE Teaching License is valid for
five years and is renewable as provided in subsection (6).
(5) Assignment and Endorsement:
The Five-Year CTE Teaching License is valid to teach within the sponsoring
district:
(a) An instructional assignment
from prekindergarten through grade 12 in an Oregon Department of Education
approved Career and Technical Education program [s] and within the scope of the
subject-matter endorsement. The scope of the endorsement shall be determined by
the National Center for Educational Statistics (NCES) course codes included in
the recommendation from the Oregon Department of Education.
(b) Any assignment in diversified occupations
or as work experience coordinators; and
(c) Any substitute teaching
assignment.
(6)
Renewing: To be eligible to apply for renewal of the Five-Year CTE
Teaching License, the applicant must:
(a)
Possess the personal qualifications for licensure including attainment of at
least eighteen years of age and possessing good moral character and mental and
physical health necessary for employment as an educator;
(b) Hold a Five-Year CTE Teaching License
issued prior to January 1, 2011;
(c) Provide a statement from the sponsoring
district as provided in subsection (2);
(d) Complete 125 continuing professional
development units as provided in OAR 584-255-0010 Professional Development
Requirements; and
(e) Submit a
complete and correct application in the form and manner required by the
Commission, including payment of all required fees as provided in OAR
584-200-0050.
