Or. Admin. Code § 462-140-0230 - Clerk of Scales
The clerk of scales shall:
(1) Weigh jockeys out and in, and ensure that
riders carry the correct assigned weight.
(2) At the time of weighing out, record all
overweights and cause these to be announced publicly and posted in a
conspicuous place before the running of each race.
(3) Ensure that the scales have been
certified to be accurate by a reputable company or governmental agency prior to
the start of the race meet.
(4)
Check the scales for accuracy every race day.
(5) Maintain accurate scale sheets for each
race.
(6) Ensure that a tag is
attached to the bridle of all horses sent to the test barn by the board of
stewards or commission veterinarian.
