S.C. Code Regs. 61-125.1100 - PATIENT PHYSICAL EXAMINATION (I)

A. All
patients admitted to a facility shall have a signed and dated physical
examination conducted by a physician or other authorized healthcare provider
within twenty-four (24) hours of admission. The physical examination shall
include a medical history and diagnosis supporting admission.
B. If a patient or potential patient has a
communicable disease, the administrator shall seek advice from a physician or
other authorized healthcare provider in order to:
1. Ensure the facility has the capability to
provide adequate care and prevent the spread of that condition, and that the
staff members and volunteers are adequately trained; and
2. Transfer the patient to an appropriate
facility, if necessary.
