S.D. Admin. R. 20:45:05:07 - Human remains defined
For purposes of this chapter, human remains are the body or part of a body of a deceased person or part of a body or limb that has been removed from a living person, including the body or body part in any stage of decomposition which is entrusted to a crematory authority by the authorizing agent for the express purpose of cremation as the lawful disposition of the body after the person's death.
